SCOUT groups in Northwich, Winsford and Middlewich have a large waiting list of young people due to a ‘critical lack of adults leaders’, according to the Mid Cheshire District Scout Executive.

The Mid Cheshire District Scout Executive is soon to lose its District Treasurer and is ‘desperate’ to find a replacement before the AGM in June.

Linda Barnes, district secretary, said: “Following the recently publicised national trend, scouting in mid Cheshire is thriving and never been more popular.

“However, Mid Cheshire District Scout Groups have a large waiting list of young people who are at present unable to be allocated places owing to a critical lack of adult leaders.

“The loss of the Treasurer, who attends to finances and provide all the information necessary for the Executive Committee to make informed decisions regarding the viability and funding of the above activities will have a detrimental effect on the high quality scouting which presently happens within the district.

“A few hours of your time can make years of difference to the fantastic young people aged six to 25.”

The District Executive plays an important role in guiding and supporting the individual groups in the area.
