WINSFORD’S bright stars, The Luka State, could find themselves propelled onto the elite music stage this summer.

The indie band, made up of lead singer Conrad Ellis, bassist Sam Bell, guitarist Lewis Pewsey and drummer Jake Barnabas, are aiming to play at June’s Isle of Wight Festival 2017, alongside global icons such as Arcade Fire, Rod Stewart and Run DMC.

The festival is hosting a ‘New Blood’ competition with HOT VOX to find two bands to play at the coveted festival.

Conrad said: “It’s every unsigned band’s dream to play the big festivals. Reading, Leeds, Glastonbury, Isle of Wight. They’ve all got such an amazing history it’s an honour to be on their stages. It’s also a great opportunity for us to play to a whole new audience.

“Festivals are a really important way to build a fan base. Normally no one really wants to pay to see small bands unless they’re being covered by the press, but at a festival people who are really in to new music can just wonder over to a stage and catch something new and exciting for free.”

Bands and artists can reach the Grand Final of the competition via live judging rounds or be fast-tracked through a public vote.

With thousands taking part, the Winsford four-piece are amazed to find themselves currently leading the pack with 640 votes.

“Our fans have been amazing already, not just in Winsford but all over the world,” Conrad added. “But we’re no finished late. There are a couple of bands close behind us in the vote so we need your help as the deadline is May 19, so get voting please.

“We want to fly the flag for Winsford and put it on the map. There’s a great music scene in our town and people need to hear it. Also, we’re going to snap chat all the late night antics so if you follow us online you’re up for four days of laughs.”
