THE Household Waste Recycling Centre in Northwich has had its number of opening days reduced as part of a council review, while the Winsford centre has remained mainly unscathed.
Cheshire West and Chester Council reviewed its waste services following its ‘Let’s Talk’ public consultation.
Following the review, the council cabinet has slashed the opening hours and days of four of its centres, including Northwich.
A council spokesman said: “The councils ‘Let’s Talk’ consultation in 2016 highlighted a public appetite to make further savings from its waste management service.
“After considering a number of options, the council’s cabinet agreed to reduce the opening days and hours of some sites as an alternative to closing sites.
“This will allow the council to achieve significant savings while still maintaining the number of sites across the borough.”
The Northwich Recycling Centre in Marbury Lane, will now be closed on Wednesdays and Thursdays.
Other centres in Frodsham, Neston and Tattenhall, also had their number of opening days reduced.
The Winsford Recycling Centre in Leslie Road, along with centres in Chester and Ellesmere Port, will remain open every day.
There are, however, some small changes to opening times of the Leslie Road centre.
