CHESHIRE Police and Crime Commissioner David Keane’s move from Winsford to Stockton Heath has been dubbed a ‘snub’ for Winsford by an outraged councillor.

The PCC announced his intention last week to relocate to Stockton Heath Police Station early in the new financial year, as a means to cut costs.

He says it will save more than £50,000 per year.

But Conservative Cheshire West and Chester Council ward member for Winsford, Cllr Mike Baynham, said the move is an ‘absolute snub’ to Winsford.

Cllr Baynham said: “This is nothing but an absolute snub for the people of Winsford. Since when does moving into a practically empty building reduce cost? Then to have the audacity to pin it to the blue light collaboration which has not been confirmed, agreed or even planned is nothing other than a shame-faced exaggeration.

“As a Winsford resident and councillor, I am disgusted by this snub and the negative message it sends out about our town.”
