A WINSFORD mum is rallying public support to raise money for a device which allows parents of stillborn babies the opportunity to spend time with their child.

Reanne Lincoln, 28, from Dee Way, saw her close friends go through the pain of a stillbirth last month.

A special device, called a CuddleCot, which keeps the baby’s body cool, allows the parents spend days with their child, getting hand and foot prints, holding them and even sleeping with them.

Mum-of-three Reanne said: “I think as a parent myself, I can’t even imagine the heartache. For them to spend that time with their child, it’s the only memories they have with their son and that’s all down to the cot being provided at the hospital. It’s so important for their grieving process.

“They were expecting to take their beautiful boy home but never got the chance. Their only comfort was that they got to spend time with their son to take pictures, do hand and foot prints and cuddle for a couple of days. And this was only possible because of the CuddleCot.”

Reanne’s friend gave birth at Glan Clwyd Hospital in north Wales, where there is just one CuddleCot available.

With 10 stillbirths in the UK every day, one of the highest rates among developed countries, Reanne feels that there needs to be more than one CuddleCot in each hospital.

“We feel it’s really important to get more of these in hospitals,” she said.

“If another family had lost their baby at the same time, they wouldn’t have got the same opportunity.”

Reanne has now set up a crowd-funding page to raise £1,070 for another CuddleCot at Glan Clwyd Hospital.
