ST MARY’S Church in Whitegate is looking to become more accessible for disabled churchgoers and visitors with pushchairs.

The church applied to the diocese to remove three pews and two ‘kneelers’ in order to ‘ enable better access and seating for visitors in wheelchairs and for those with pushchairs’.

The diocese have agreed to the proposals in principal and the plans have now entered a 28-day period of consultation which started on January 15, ending on February 12.

The documents along with the plans are displayed on the board at the back of church and in the porch.
