WHARTON Library will be supporting health and wellbeing during a special week of events, which will promote a range of activities to help people stay fit and well.

Health and Wellbeing week takes place next week between January 16 and 21 in certain libraries across west Cheshire and Wharton Library is one of the eight to take part.

Libraries will also be highlighting ‘One You’, a Public Health England Campaign which aims to encourage adults, particular those in middle age, to take control of their health to enjoy significant benefits now, and in later life.

Cllr Louise Gittins, cabinet member for communities and well-being, said: “There are many ways that your local library can help you to stay fit and well – did you know that reading is the best way to relax, and reading for just six minutes a day can reduce your stress levels by more than two thirds?

“Our libraries will be hosting a range of activities, all designed to encourage people to try something new, keep active and connect with other people around them.

"Many of our libraries already hold regular activities, such as Scrabble Clubs, Adult Colouring and Craft sessions, Knit and Natter Clubs and Reading Groups but during Health and Wellbeing Week there will be the chance to try something different.”

One of the activities on offer at Wharton Library will be still-life drawing.
