TAYLOR’S Optometrists in Winsford is celebrating 30 successful years in the town.

The opticians in Dene Drive have been running in Winsford, previously in Queens Parade, since November 1986 and Liz Taylor, who owns the business with her husband Lyndon, said she has never wanted to work anywhere else.

“I love working here and have never wanted to work anywhere else since we came to Winsford all those years ago,” Liz said.

"Many of our patients have been coming to us for all of those thirty years, so we decided to organise a 30th birthday party to say thank you.”

Liz and Lyndon will be hosting a birthday party for the shop tomorrow, Saturday, November 19, with drinks, cakes and special offers all day.

Reflecting on the past 30 years, Liz was shocked at how much the profession and Taylor’s Optemetrists has moved on since 1986.

Liz added: "When we first qualified, the only way we had of looking inside the eye was our hand-held ophthalmoscope, whereas now we routinely take digital images of the retina and can even offer state-of-the-art OCT scans to see individual layers in the retina to look for early signs of macular degeneration and glaucoma."

Saturday will also be a triple celebration for the store, having also moved into new premises next to Aldi five years ago as well celebrating loyal employee Jane Phillips’ 20 years working for Taylors.

Liz and Lyndon presented Jane with a handbag as a gift for her 20 years’ service.
