ST LUKE’S Hospice in Winsford has had a big makeover thanks to a Northwich-based company who have replaced their old wooden windows and doors with uPVC.

ID Glass and Glazing, based in Anderton, made the kind gesture after the company’s Managing Director’s father passed away in the Hospice in August last year from cancer.

The company, who had previously raised funds for St Luke’s after holding a charity fishing event, wanted to do something which would be of long lasting benefit to the hospice.

Michael Rathbone, grandson and sales and marketing executive for the company, said the idea of giving something back to the -ospice where his grandfather was so well cared for in his final days was hugely important.

“The care he received during his short time there was impeccable. It was very peaceful and he had his own personal space. I remember us watching the Formula 1 together in his room and savouring those special final moments together which meant so much to our family.

“We wanted to show our appreciation for everything St Luke’s did for my grandad and this is the only way we knew how.”

Andrea Ladeira, chief executive officer for the hospice, said: “It is an enormous gesture which St Luke’s will be eternally grateful for and the impact of their generosity will benefits patients for many years to come.”
