A WINSFORD cyclist has cycled from coast to coast across the Trans Pennine Trail in three days to raise money for a hospice caring for people with life-limiting illnesses.
Ray Smith, 41, from Winsford, completed the 226-mile marathon cycle from Hornsea to Southport with three friends, Rob Donnelly and Del Phillips from Runcorn and Colin Warburton from Penketh.
The team initially intended to tackle the ride for the challenge but then decided to turn it into a charity event.
Rob said: “The entire ride was fully enjoyable and extremely challenging, maybe a little more than we expected. Some parts were really tough.
“Halton Haven is one of those places that has touched almost everyone at some point or in some way within Runcorn and Widnes so we decided to try and raise some money for them.
“We hope the £1,250 we have raised will make a big difference to the hospice.”
The group raised more than £1,250 for Halton Haven Hospice.
