WINSFORD deputy mayor and other town councillors were left astounded by a mixed martial arts display by Winsford children during an open day at the New Images Youth Centre.

The youth centre in Nixon Drive held an open on Saturday, October 8, with a barbecue, coffee and cake bar, balloon modelling, face painting, tombola, and a popular mixed martial arts display put on by Tiagon MMA.

Winsford deputy mayor Cllr Mike Kennedy as well as Cllr Steve Burns, Cllr Tommy Blackmore and Cllr Gina Lewis were all at the open day and were impressed with the performance.

Cllr Kennedy said: “It was a real pleasure to see so many adults and young people having fun and partaking in the many events that were laid on by the Youth Centre. What I found particularly admirable was the amount of volunteers and youth workers present, they really did a fantastic job.

“The MMA display was a sight to behold with many youngsters putting on such a professional display with proud parents looking on.

“My congratulations to all of the staff and volunteers for putting on such a well organised event.”
