A WINSFORD music group has officially moved into its new premises, after losing its previous home due to the Winsford Cross redevelopment.

Bandedge Resurrected, a non-profit music group supporting people of all ages to learn new instruments, has relocated to Wharton Youth Club in Greville Drive.

Mayor Steve Smith, who supports Bandedge Resurrected as one of his chosen charities, cut the ribbon on Thursday evening and passed on his best wishes to the group.

He said: “I was invited along as mayor to cut the ribbon and wish the organisation the best in their new premises.

“Bandedge Resurrected have a long history, starting several years ago. I can see them growing from strength to strength supporting young people and older people to learn new musical instruments.

“Bandedge is one of my two chosen charities and there were many other organisations present in support to wish them well.

“I am extremely happy for them as I believe they have a longer lease which will give them security for some time.”

The group is based around helping budding musicians – young and old – hone their skills, with experienced volunteers on hand to offer advice.

The new premises will allow the group to maintain a rehearsal space, for individuals as well as the group’s house band who play community and charity events. Group sessions will be held each Thursday.

Rob Allen, a trustee of the group, added: “This is going to be the new, and hopefully permanent home of Bandedge Resurrected.

“They have just renewed the lease for four years. We have spent the last week moving in and we still work to do.

“The opening was really well attended, we had everyone in for a buffet and a little speech just thanking everyone.

“We only exist through the goodwill of other people.”
