THE NeuroMuscular Centre in Winsford is appealing to the community to help the charity win £6,000 to install solar technology.

The charity, in Woodford Lane, is seeking a grant from the M&S Energy Community Energy Fund which is offering grants for community groups around Great Britain who are looking to install renewable technology or energy efficiency measures.

Grants are awarded to community organisations that receive the most votes from the public.

The NeuroMuscular Centre (NMC), which is the Centre of Excellence for people with muscular dystrophy, is currently expanding its physical space by 70 per cent.

The expansion has provided an opportunity to install solar technology on the new rooftops.

Lyndsey Cannon-Potts, head of fundraising at NMC, said: “This will allow NMC to produce some of its own power making it more energy efficient which contributes to the environment. If NMC won enough votes the funding would enable NMC to save money in the long term on energy costs. A significant proportion of the NMC’s operating costs come from fundraising activity, therefore anything we can do to save some money will allow more to be spent on delivering vital services for people with MD.”
