A WINSFORD man has been jailed for three months for threatening to kill two police officers while wielding a nine-and-a-half inch knife.

Robert Nash, 26, from Vauxhall Way, was arrested on January 11 at a house in Bedford Rise when police went to arrest him on suspicion of breaching a harassment order.

Nash shouted at the two officers saying he would ‘kill them’ and wielded a kitchen knife with a nine-and-a-half inch blade.

His mum was at the scene and eventually persuaded him to put the knife down, however he still resisted arrest.

Nash appeared at Crewe Magistrates Court via video link on Friday, September 9, and was handed a three-month jail sentence.

Insp Dave Snasdell, of Cheshire Police, said the experience was ‘harrowing’ for the officers and was satisfied that the sentence reflects the seriousness of the offence.

Insp Snasdell said: “Police officers attend many incidents where they are threatened with violence and are assaulted. This was a harrowing experience for the two officers present and the sentence reflects the seriousness of the incident.

“No officer should be assaulted while doing their public service protecting the public.”
