TWO police cars drove down one of the fairways at Winsford's golf course in a bid to catch a motorist who they had been pursuing through the town's streets.

The dramatic incident when the car came to a stop was captured by Winsford resident Mark Wardle on Saturday lunchtime.

Mark told the Guardian he came across a green BMW 5 series on the 9th fairway at the golf course on Knights Grange at 1pm yesterday, August 27.

He added he saw two men dump the BMW in a gulley after seeing police drive down the fairway in pursuit.

"The car crossed two public paths that are within the golf course and one that goes alongside the cricket pitch," Mark said.

"There was a wedding do being held in the function room above the golf shop, so kids playing outside while these cars were flying about."

The Guardian contacted Cheshire Police on Sunday but was told via a 101 operator that we could not speak to a duty sergeant about the incident and we would have to wait until Tuesday morning when the press office was open.
