FOUR loyal colleagues at Winsford’s Asda store are celebrating a combined 160 years of service.

The four colleagues, Mark Gilbert, Val Wrobel, Deborah Such and Pauline Dunbavin started working on the shop floor at The Drumber back in 1976 when it started out life as a Fine Fare store.

The store changed into a Somerfield, then a Gateway, before becoming Asda in 1989.

The four shop workers have stuck at the store throughout and now look back fondly on each of their 40 years of service.

Mark Gilbert, produce colleague at Asda Winsford, said: “I’ve had so many fantastic memories since I first joined in 1976 and I wouldn’t change those memories for the world.

“I love seeing the same faces week in week out – everyone is so friendly and never fail to make me smile.

“I can’t believe how quickly the last 40 years have flown by and it’s really nice to see that we’re all one big Asda family and such a big part of the local community.”

General store manager Heather Wright has thanked the committed bunch for their dedication and hinted that their Asda colleagues would be throwing a party to show their appreciation.

Heather said: “We are proud of all our colleagues at Asda Winsford and we are especially proud of our four dedicated colleagues for all their hard work over the last 40 years.

“What better way to celebrate the 160 years of service our long serving colleagues have given us, together than with a good old party to thank them for their service.”
