A WINSFORD author has published his second book about the hardship of two families in Russia, leading up to the invasion of the Nazis.

John Heley, writing under the name Jack Limes, has released ‘A Chill Wind Blows’, a story about two families desperately trying to survive in Leningrad, Russia, between 1929 and 1942.

John will be holding a book signing at WHSmith in Crewe on Saturday, July 23, at noon, and at Bridgewater Garden Centre on Sunday, July 24, at 11am.

He said: “I retired from social work nine years ago and took up writing. This is my second book after I self-published the first one eight years ago.

“I wrote the book after researching a back story for a character I had in mind for a different story.

“I discovered stories of incredible hardship and the will of people to survive come what May. I think we should not forget these acts of bravery and be reminded that things we complain about today could be a lot worse.”
