THE new Winsford junior mayor has been formally made and is determined to do the best he can for the town.
McKenzie Birch, 10, who is a pupil at Darnhall Primary School, has been made the 2016/17 junior mayor.
He is looking forward to the year ahead and wants to make a lasting impression on the town.
Steve Martin, McKenzie’s grandad, said: “He wrote a letter by himself and he just put that he wanted to help the town and charities. His mum has been ill and he said he wanted to help out kids who are in the same position as him.
“He’s really looking forward to being the junior mayor and doing what he can for the town.
“We are all over the moon for him and so proud. He was so happy when he found out, he was jumping for joy.”
Winsford’s town mayor Cllr Steve Smith was at the junior mayor making and said his junior counterpart is just right for the job.
Cllr Steve Smith, Winsford Town Mayor, said: “He will be an excellent junior mayor. He is really confident and has a great personality - just what is needed for the job.”
