ANTOINETTE Sandbach MP spoke in Parliament to urge the Government to give support to those facing redundancy from GHA Coaches.

GHA Coaches, a Welsh bus company which has a depot in Winsford, went into administration and folded earlier this month.

The MP for Eddisbury spoke in the House of Commons encouraging the secretary of state for Wales to offer support to those losing their job as a result.

Ms Sandbach said: “GHA Coaches, which is in the constituency of Wrexham but has two depots in my constituency in Tarvin and Winsford, went into administration, with the potential loss of 300 to 400 jobs. I should be grateful if the leader of the house encouraged the new secretary of state for Wales to liaise with the department for transport, and indeed with the department for business, innovation and skills, to establish what support can be given to those who may be facing redundancy.

Leader of the house, Chris Grayling, responded saying the relevant departments will ‘do everything they can to provide appropriate support.’

Mr Grayling said: “I am very sorry to hear of what must be very difficult and distressing news for my hon. Friend’s constituents and those in the next-door constituency of Wrexham, and all our good wishes in this House go out to those affected.

“When a business is put into administration, one always hopes that it is possible to save it. I know that the department for work and pensions, the department for business, innovation and skills and the Wales office will do everything they can to provide appropriate support, where they are able to do so.”
