A DOG walker is desperately trying to find a Good Samaritan cyclist helped her pet Labrador out of the River Weaver after he got stuck in the water.

Lindsey Jones, 31, from Winsford, was walking along the Weaver Valley Parkway on Wednesday, July 13, just around 6pm, when her two-year-old dog, Buddy, decided to take a dip in the water.

Due to the strong current, Buddy was unable to get back on the embankment. Lindsey tried to get Buddy out, but failed in her attempts.

She then tried to stop passers-by but they did not stop, causing panic to set in.

“I suffer quite a lot with anxiety", she said. "I don’t like feeling helpless.

“It’s a horrible feeling when you know you can’t do anything."

Shortly after, a cyclist riding nown the path stopped to help Lindsey.

“He chucked his bike to the floor, and together we managed to get Buddy out," she said. "It’s quite a strong current there.

“He lent right over the edge and grabbed Buddy and got him out. Buddy then shook all the water all over him to say thank you.”

After he was rescued, Lindsey was overcome with relief.

Amid the panic, Lindsey only got the mystery man’s first name, Richard. Now she wants to seek him out to properly thank him for his heroic efforts.

She said: “I think he must be from the local area, because you don’t just go and cycle around there. I really feel like he needs a reward.

“I asked his name – I work in customer service so it’s just a natural reaction – and he was called Richard.

“He was about six foot and in his 40s. He had a greying beard and a blue cycle Lycra top with black shorts, and a grey bike.

“He was my Good Samaritan. I was just so thankful he stopped, it was so much relief.”
