BUSINESSES have discovered the benefits of hiring employees with disabilities.
Companies were invited to meet a range of charities and organisations at a disability confident event.
Businesses who employ disabled people were able to answer questions and explain the support that is available from various organisations and the Government.
Weaver Vale MP Graham Evans, who hosted the event, said: “I’m really proud that 19 companies from across Cheshire have signed up and pledged to become disability confident employers.
“This event is all about encouraging employers to see the ability rather than the disability.
“No one is asking for any favours. People just want the chance to have an interview.
“Everyone has their own strengths and we want businesses to see there is a huge amount of potential out there.”
B&M, Tata Chemicals, ABB Ltd, Cheshire Constabulary, Halton Council, Barclays Plc and Cheshire Wildlife Trust were among those signing up.
