MORE than £80,000 was raised by the families having ‘bubbly fun’ for St Luke’s Hospice and East Cheshire Hospice.

The Bubble Rush event was organised by Winsford’s St Luke’s Hospice along with East Cheshire Hospice based in Macclesfield, and raised more than £80,000 for the two charities.

The event saw more than 3,500 people flock to Oulton Park on Saturday, May 14, for a 5k rush through soapy bubbles.

Melissa Newland, senior event fundraiser at St Luke’s, said: “We all had so much fun at this event, thank you to everyone who participated or volunteered.

“The money raised will go towards caring for local people when they need it most. We will be holding the Bubble Rush again next year, as well as having a Christmas Bubble Rush, so keep an eye on our website and Facebook page.”

St Luke’s held the first Bubble Rush event last year and since then twenty five hospices across the UK have held their own Bubble Rushes, raising hundreds of thousands of pounds for hospice care.

Stacey Moores, who took part in the Bubble Rush, said: “What an amazing day, for an amazing charity. Roll on next year’s Bubble Rush.”
