NINE candidates will battle it out for three seats in the Winsford Town Council Over ward election.

An election will be held on Thursday, May 5, 2016 – the same day as the Cheshire Police and Crime Commissioner election.

The Labour Party, The Conservative Party and the Liberal Democrats have all entered three candidates each.

The candidates are: Graham Cawley (Labour), Sandra Challinor (Conservatives), Margaret Dolphin (Conservatives), Janet Fitzmaurice (Lib Dems), Gina Lewis (Labour), Brandon Parkey (Lib Dems), Charlie Parkinson (Lib Dems), Martin Soar (Conservatives) and Carol Wilson (Labour).

There will be two polling stations at St Joseph’s Parish Centre and Hazlemere Extra Care Development, both in Winsford, during the day of the election.

Votes will be counted at Ellesmere Port Sports Village.

The election is the result of a ruling of an election court trial that took place at Winsford Lifestyle Centre in March.

Charlie Parkinson, who lost his seat in the ward following the May 7 election, petitioned the High Court to review the case after claiming the nominations of three other candidates were invalid.

Judge Andrew Saffman ruled the election void and three casual vacancies were announced shortly afterwards.
