WINSFORD’s Town Council clerk will retire following nine years of service.

Alan Warburton, from Winsford, informed the council that he will step down from May 31, 2016.

The council’s staffing committee have agreed to discuss the appointment of Alan’s successor at their next meeting.

Since his announcement, a number of Winsford councillors have thanked Alan for his dedication to his hometown.

Cllr Steve Smith, ward member for Dene, said: “Alan’s passion to drive Winsford forward on a day-to-day basis has been outstanding.

“Whatever our personal views and wishes to drive Winsford forward in whatever way, he has never failed to support us as individuals or as a collective council.”

Cllr Stephen Burns, ward member for Swanlow, said Alan has been ‘100 per cent committed’ to Winsford.

He said Alan has ‘worked tirelessly to put Winsford first and support the decisions and wishes of the town council members’.

Cllr Burns said: “I am sure everyone on the town council and Winsford Cheshire West and Chester Council member's would like to thank him for his total dedication to duty and for the selfless service he has given to Winsford and every member of the town council.

“We all wish you a very happy retirement. Thanks Alan, for everything.”
