FOOD and drink producers from across Cheshire have been invited to the Houses of Parliament to showcase their produce.

Antoinette Sandbach, MP for Eddisbury, has invited all Cheshire MPs to bring a food or drink producer from their constituency to take part in the day, which takes place on Wednesday, March 2.

She has organised Cheshire Food and Drink Day to show there’s more to Cheshire than its world-renowned cheese.

Ms Sandbach said: “Cheshire has an abundance of fabulous locally produced food and drink and what better way to show it off than to invite local businesses to the Houses of Parliament.

“Cheshire Food and Drink Day is shaping up to be a promising event."

Among the businesses confirmed so far are Taste Cheshire, Chatwins Bakery, NFU Cheshire, Joseph Heler Cheese, Tatton Brewery and Forest Gin.

Several more expected to confirm attendance over the next few weeks.

Ms Sandbach, who is backing the National Farmers' Union (NFU) ‘Buy British’ campaign, hopes the Cheshire Food and Drink Day will encourage constituents to buy locally-sourced produce.

She said: “Eddisbury hosts a huge variety of good local rural enterprises and by supporting them you can ensure that every pound you spend goes straight back into the local economy."
