REDROW Homes wants to build 26 two, three and four-bedroom houses on land off Chester Road in Winsford.

The homes are earmarked for land opposite Marton View Farm alongside a roundabout junction of the A54 Oakmere Road and B5074 Chester Road.

The housebuilder says Winsford was a sustainable location for new housing development, and the housing scheme would provide a range of new high quality homes for a wide market demand with distinction and character.

Outline planning approval for mews, semi-detached and detached properties is being sought from Cheshire West and Chester Council.

A design and access report accompanying the application said it had been decided to incorporate outwards facing properties using shared driveways with a central spine road running through the site.

“The scheme uses the development area in the most efficient way and still provides excellent quality living,” said the report.

“The applicant considers the result is a high quality, well-considered scheme that responds positively to its setting, by enhancing the area, creating additional character and an aspirational place to live which will benefit the local area, responding to the local housing needs and demand.

“The proposed development reacts well to the current housing market demands and the site context and setting to propose a well-considered housing scheme. The house range offers accommodation to a wide demographic.”

The proposed homes would be a maximum of three storeys in height, and a full landscaping proposal would form part of the reserved matters application.

A minimum of two parking spaces would be provided for each home.

The report said the A54 was the main road running through the centre of Winsford.

“Whilst it suffers from congestion during peaks periods it operates within capacity and with minimal delay for the remainder of the day,” it said.

“This congestion is due to a number of reasons, including the significant number of schools in the village and the confluence of the primary roads, into and through the village, with the dual carriageway.”

The site which is earmarked for the homes is south of the B5074 and to the east of Oakmere Road (A54).
