PLANS to give a superfast broadband programme aimed at aspiring business women a cash injection has been welcomed by Winsford’s MP.

Earlier this week the Government announced that projects in Cheshire and Greater Manchester have been awarded £87,000 in funding.

A further £1.1 million is being made available to provide a programme to help women take advantage of superfast broadband to either start a business or work from home.

This is in addition to the £1.1 million that has already been invested.

Antoinette Sandbach, MP for Eddisbury, said: “Access to superfast broadband is vital to driving economic growth, so it’s brilliant to see businesses get this funding.

“Projects in greater Manchester and Cheshire will also get funding to help improve digital skills, skills which are vital for those re-entering the workplace in such a global and connected world.

“I can’t wait to follow these projects and see the good work they do.”
