A WINSFORD care home took a trip back in time for the opening of its new salon.

Westwood Court care home, in Winsford, opened its doors to the public to celebrate the home’s latest addition.

Staff left their uniforms at home and donned 1940s outfits instead. A number of residents also enjoyed dressing up in 1940s outfits.

Cllr David Edwards, deputy mayor for Winsford, who opened the home’s new salon, said: “The new salon is an excellent facility for the residents of Westwood Court and I hope they enjoy it.

“I and the deputy mayoress had an excellent visit and thoroughly enjoyed meeting residents and staff.

“The work the staff put in to the 1940s theme day was supper. The residents had an enjoyable time”.

The activities included 1940s Sing-a-long, coffee morning, 1940s hair and make-up demo, 1940s street party-themed lunch, 1940s bingo, 1940s knit and natter, 1940s food feast and more.

Irene Conduit, who came all the way from Manchester to visit for the day, said: “It was a brilliant day. I have not had so much fun in years.

“All the staff and residents looked lovely in their nostalgic outfits, and everybody was smiling and so very happy.”
