THE Secretary of State for Transport will meet with Winsford’s MP to discuss resident’s concerns regarding phase two of High Speed 2 (HS2) railway.

During Transport Questions on June 11, Antoinette Sandbach, MP for Eddisbury, asked Secretary of State for Transport Patrick McLoughlin to meet to discuss phase two of HS2.

As a result, Antoinette has now secured a meeting with Mr McLoughlin to discuss constituents who will be affected.

Ms Sandbach said: “I am delighted that Patrick McLoughlin has agreed to meet with me on June 22 so that we are able to discuss concerns that Eddisbury constituents have about phase two of HS2.

“This is a really important issue for residents and it’s vital that any concerns they may have are addressed too”

Ms Sandbach said that during her election campaign she met with many residents who were concerned about the potential blight the construction of HS2 would cause in the constituency.

She said she made this one of her priorities for constituents in Eddisbury, and made sure it was one of the first issues she raised in Parliament.

Ms Sandbach also met with HS2 Ltd on June 5 to discuss the second phase of the scheme and its impact on constituents.
