RESIDENTS in Over are taking to the streets to pick up litter and are appealing for others to join them.

The GGO (Glebe, Green Park and Over) Getters Clean Team meet every second Thursday of the month on Grampian Way, Winsford, at 5pm.

GGO Getters are also looking at setting up clean teams on the Glebe and Greenfields Estates.

One of the volunteers, Ida Warburton, said: “Everyone hates to see litter on the floor, it really brings an area down. Here’s a chance to meet up with neighbours and do something about it.

“We usually litter pick for about an hour, but any time people can spare to help is appreciated. Just by doing this small thing we can really help make a difference to our neighbourhood.”

The issue of litter in the town was raised during the recent parish council annual meeting.

Town mayor, Ailsa Gaskill-Jones, who organised the town’s first ever Walkabout Winsford earlier this year, said the amount of litter found on the walk was ‘concerning’.
