DOGS will be called upon to help sniff out cancer among men in Winsford.

Leighton Hospital Prostate Cancer Support Group has teamed up with Medical Detection Dogs.

The dogs will be present at a PSA blood test session at the Winsford Conservative Club, Ways Green, on Saturday, July, 4, between 11am and 1pm.

Gary Steele M.B.E, chairman of the Leighton Hospital Prostate Cancer Support Group, said: “I would like organizations, businesses as well as the public to come along and see these wonderful dogs that are trained to sniff-out prostate cancer and also many other cancers.

“The group is hoping to sponsor one of the dogs for a year to ensure we are part of the testing trials.

“The public, businesses, organizations can do likewise or have a dog named of their choice.

“This will be a unique experience for those who attend and have an opportunity to see these wonderful dogs first-hand are capable of in assisting to combat cancer in various forms.”

On Wednesday, June 24, the group will be collecting urine samples for Medical Detection Dogs to test for prostate cancer during a PSA session at Winsford Conservative Club.

The group will also be screening men of 65 and over for abdominal aortic aneurism, free of charge. The dogs will not be present on this date.
