A WINSFORD preschool carried on their long-standing tradition by crowning their new May King and Queen.

St Andrews Preschool, Winsford, entertained parents at their annual Crowning of the May Queen, a special tradition that has been carried out for 33 years.

Ciena Nellis-Pallett, 4, and Jenson Hyland, 3, were crowned in a ceremony, which was attended by staff and parents, and given their own regal thrones.

Sarah Rogers, a committee member for St Andrews Preschool, said: “The children performed lots of songs with actions and really enjoyed singing on the stage.

“Each child had made a beautiful animal hat in the days leading up to the event and the songs were chosen specially to represent the animal theme.

“The fantastic occasion was then rounded off with drinks, biscuits and cakes together with a raffle."

St Andrews Preschool are a not-for-profit community pre-school/playgroup that provides care and education for Winsford children aged two-and-a-half up to five years of age.

The preschool has operated for more than 30 years.

Sarah added: “Parents and staff agreed that it was a charming and fitting end to the half term and a fabulous way to send the children off for their holiday.”
