THOUSANDS flocked to Cheshire Constabulary’s Winsford headquarters to see how the force works together with Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service.

The emergency services open day aimed to take residents behind the scenes of the two services.

Interactive displays and exhibitions gave visitors the chance to see the complex nature of the work that the two emergency services do and how they work together to protect the community.

Paul Hancock, Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service’s Chief Fire Officer, said: “The event was wonderful, it was fantastic to see so many people come along to discover more about what we do.

“I hope everyone had a great time and managed to pick up some information that may help keep them and their families safe in the future.”

Representatives were on hand to issue crime prevention advice, safety tips and information.

There were also a number of practical demonstrations to give people a taste of the adrenaline-fuelled work the two services carry out on a regular basis..

A number of vintage and modern fire engines and vehicles were on display alongside police cars.

Children were able to enjoy face painting, wall climbing, a craft area, circus workshop and a treasure hunt.
