ELLIOT Bowker, who represented Great Britain at the World Cross Country Championships in March, won the Christleton 5K on Friday in a personal best time.

The 18-year-old, of Vale Royal Athletics Club, reached the finish in 14:31, relegating reigning Northern cross country champion Andrew Davies (Stockport Harriers) to second spot.

Tessa McCormick ran a lifetime best for the distance too, timing 16:31, to finish as second female behind Elle Vernon (Stockport Harriers).

Like Bowker, she was a victor in the under 20s age group.

Vale Royal’s Chris Perry was fifth overall in 15:01.

There were class victories too for Stuart Doyle (over 40s men) and Mary Tavener (over 50s women), while Alex Hall, Steve Caldwell, James Ainsworth and Geoff Fawkes set personal bests over 5km.
