FAMILIES and youngsters flocked to Harry Sharland’s family fun fair when it touched down in Winford last week.

Harry Sharland’s family fun fair set up shop on Winsford’s Verdin Exchange, before moving on to Northwich from Wednesday, April 22-26.

Harry and his family have been bringing the fun fair to Winsford for more than 40 years.

And Harry, 62, hopes to be able to continue to do so despite plans to build more than 3,000 homes across the town by 2030.

Harry said: “The fair will always carry on. We always want to be in Winsord if we can, but it’s down to the council.

“Fairs come and go, but the sites that they’re on generally get built on so we’ve moved on three different sites here.

“The planned development is a worry for us but Winsford has been very good to us over the years.

“So there will always be a fair in Winsford I think.”

Harry, who is originally from Salford, moved to Winsford in 1990, and has resided in the town ever since.

He said: “I ended up settling into Winsford because I liked it. My children were all brought up in Winsford and went to school here.

“I’m hoping to stay in Winsford as long as possible, as long as God lets me breathe.”

Harry Sharland’s family fun fair is currently in Verdin Park in Northwich. The park is open from 6.00pm on weekdays, and from 1.00pm on the weekend.
