A WINSFORD fraudster who preyed on the heart-strings of lonely women before raiding their life savings is facing jail once again.

Derek McMaster, 67, was jailed for 20 months in January, 2013 after conning two women he found using lonely heart adverts in local newspapers.

McMaster, now of Verdin Close, Winsford, got engaged to the women, one of whom he was caring for, before raiding their bank accounts.

On April 13, speaking at Liverpool Crown Court, McMaster admitted to scamming another vulnerable woman upon his release from jail.

McMaster, formerly of Falcon Hey, Fazakerley, admitted two counts of fraud.

Speaking via video link from HMP Liverpool, McMaster pleaded guilty to making a false representation to the woman between November 30, 2013 and December 15, 2013.

The love rat duped his latest victim by claiming he could obtain three televisions for £300.

McMaster also admitted claiming he was authorised to use her bank details so he could order £714 of goods between February 2 and February 21 last year.

Judge Brian Lewis adjourned the case for sentencing on April 28, and warned McMaster he faces another prison sentence.

McMaster’s previous stint in jail came after he conned two lonely women out of thousands of pounds after getting engaged to them.

McMaster’s first victim, Margaret Dickinson, who was 64 at the time, was a kidney dialysis patient and also had renal failure, Chron’s disease and chronic arthritis.

Posing as a semi-retired police officer, McMaster moved in under the guise of her carer, before proposing and using her bank card to steal £3,150 between March and June 2012.

McMaster then turned his attention to Jean Antrobus, also 64 at the time, from Runcorn.

McMaster eventually asked for her hand in marriage, before using her bank card to plunder £5,275, which he even partly used to buy the engagement ring.

His lies were finally uncovered when his victim’s card was rejected when she attempted to pay for plastic surgery.

McMaster is due to be sentenced at Liverpool Crown Court on April 28.
