AN allotment award that has been missing for almost a decade will be revived after a Winsford business stepped in to help.

The original trophy was last awarded in 2006, but never made it back to the association, and has been lost ever since.

When local business Co-Operative Funeralcare heard about the missing trophy, they contacted the Over Allotments Association to see if they could help.

Over Allotments Association will have the new trophy to award at their annual show later this year.

“We are delighted to have a trophy for our flower section,” said John Malam, chair of Over Allotments Association.

“The original trophy was last awarded in 2006 at the final Vale Royal Show. It was never returned, and is now lost.”

The Co-Operative Funeralcare Vase for the Best Floral Exhibit will be awarded for the first time to a lucky grower from the Moss Bank allotment site.

The engraved Bohemia crystal vase will be awarded in August.

Jane Maddock, of Co-Operative Funeralcare, Delamere Street, said: “We wondered if we could sponsor a new trophy."

“We’re keen to help community groups, and we were very happy to help Over Allotments Association.
