A WINSFORD furniture store is embarking on a year-long fundraising campaign to raise funds for The NeuroMuscular Centre .

Staff at Alan Ward on Wharton Retail Park will raise funds throughout the year for Winsford-based charity The NeuroMuscular Centre, which supports people with muscular dystrophy.

The NeuroMuscular Centre said they were overwhelmed to become the store’s nominated charity of the year and was looking forward to supporting them in their fundraising drive.

Stan Kramarczyk, store manager, said: “The work carried out by the The NeuroMuscular Centre is vital for those people who have been diagnosed with muscular dystrophy and as it is the only centre of its kind in the UK.

“The people of Winsford are extremely fortunate to have it on their doorstep.

“As well as having their collection tins on our counter we are currently creating a 12-month fundraising campaign where every penny we raise from small events to much larger events will go to the centre.”

The NeuroMuscular Centre, which celebrates its 25th anniversary this year, provides services and specialist advice for adults with muscular dystrophy and other neuromuscular conditions.

Amy Swatkins, community development fundraiser for the centre, said: “We offer a range of services to people from Cheshire and the north west region with more and more people needing our services every year.

“From vocational training qualifications to physiotherapy and active exercise, to carers’ breaks and social worker advocacy services – we offer them all.

She added: “We need to raise £875,000 per year to keep the centre running so support from businesses like Alan Ward is invaluable.”

Anybody who would like to offer any fundraising ideas to the Alan Ward team or would like to host any fundraising events in the store for the NMC should call the store on 01606 550500.
