A COMMUNITY charity shop has donated £16,000 to St Luke’s Cheshire Hospice.

The Audlem Charity shop, based in Audlem, near Nantwich, is a community-run retail space that is aimed at raising money for a number of different charities.

This year they have donated £27,500 to various charities including St Luke’s Cheshire Hospice, The Wingate Centre, Donna Louise Trust, Audlem first responders and The Midland Air Ambulance.

Andrew Patterson, The Audlem Charity shop Treasurer, and Ann Bowles, The Audlem Charity shop Chairman presented the cheque for £16,000 to Mark Porter, Corporate and Community Fundraiser from St Luke’s Hospice.

Mr Porter said: “I want to thank Ann, Andrew, the committee and all the volunteers at the Audlem Charity shop for doing a fantastic job. The money raised is such a large amount which will be put towards funding vital care for local people.

“St Luke’s Hospice relies heavily on donations and we are very grateful for this support which enables us to continue to help people at such an important and difficult time. The hospice costs £7,500 a day to stay open and helps 3,000 people every year.

“We would also like to thank everyone who has donated to the shop and for everyone who has bought from the Audlem Charity shop.

“It is wonderful to see a community coming together and making such a massive difference.”
