AN ASPIRING singer from Winsford will hold a charity EP launch party in memory of a friend who died in a motorbike accident.

Sam Lyon, 20, will hold the launch party at Moulton Village Hall on Saturday, April 18, to celebrate the release of her sophomore album, the Bitter Taste of Bliss.

Sam will donate 50 per cent of all ticket sales, merchandise sales, and bar sales to North West Air Ambulance, in honour of Sammy Carson, who passed away aged 18 after a motorbike accident in 2013.

“It was a major blow to everyone,” Sam, from Winsford said. “He was such an interesting, thoughtful, kind character and was without a doubt one of the nicest people I'd ever had the pleasure of meeting.

“He never had a bad word to say about anybody, and he'll always be remembered for his kind gesture of buying ice cream for anyone who was upset.

“The North West Air Ambulance put every effort into giving Sam a chance, and I know I will never be able to thank them enough for their help.”

Sam is excited to perform tracks of her new album at the launch party, as well as favourites from her first EP, Promise Me.

For her follow-up album, the former John Deane’s student said she wanted to go ‘outside her comfort zone’, and is delighted with the results.

“I decided that I wanted to challenge myself as I find it so much easier to write slow, soppy love songs,” she said.

“I've never really ventured out of my comfort zone and pushed myself to try something new. But I am so, so proud of how this EP has turned out, I love the new sound.”

Sam says Promise Me opened many doors for her, but no matter how successful she becomes, the Winsford girl said she will never forget her roots.

“Winsford is where I started out, and the people from this area are the people who have supported me and backed me right from the very beginning.

“This is where I first found my confidence to get on stage, and this is where I've found most of my inspiration for my song writing.

“I will always remember my Winsford roots.
