A SPURNED ex-girlfriend who trashed her on-off lover’s house in a jealous rage after finding a five-year anniversary card from another partner has been sentenced.

Sandra Cleary, 45, from Winsford, was given a 12 month conditional discharge at a sentencing hearing at Crewe Magistrates Court on February 27.

Cleary, who now lives in Tarporley, was found guilty of criminal damage at a previous hearing on February 5.

The conviction relates to an incident that occurred on the morning of July 7, 2014, after Cleary had stayed the night at her ex-partner’s house, Robert Kinvig, from Winsford.

Debbie Byrne, from the Crown Prosecution Service, said: “He left for work around five in the morning and left her in the house.

“He came back around 12.10pm to find that there were broken glass and china in the kitchen. He went to the bedroom to find a number of old cards from ex-girlfriends laid out.

“He then went to the wardrobe to find his clothes had been damaged. She also damaged clothes that had been ironed in another room. She cut off the sleeves and legs.”

In addition to the clothes, Cleary smashed a £500 Ferrari watch and tea stains were found over the landing walls and on his television. Mr Byrne said Cleary caused around £5000 worth of damage.

Cleary’s defence solicitor Tim Edgeley told magistrates that she had been forced to flee Winsford to get away from an abusive ex-partner, before beginning a relationship with Mr Kinvig.

Magistrates heard how the relationship began to deteriorate in 2014 after she became pregnant and was told by doctors she would miscarriage.

Mr Edgeley said: “He continued to text her but then she found out that Robert was seeing someone else. She went round to discuss it and she ended up staying the night.

“The next morning he made her a drink then went to work. She went to have a shower and then she went to his wardrobe to get a towel to dry off.

“This is where she found a gift bag and a five-year anniversary card.

“She broke, quite clearly she broke.”

Cleary was ordered to pay £350 compensation to Mr Kinvig in addition to court costs of £635. Cleary is also prevented from making contact of any kind with Mr Kinvig for two years.
