WORK will begin on a new play area that local children helped design in Winsford after full funding was secured.
Earlier this month, images of the new-look Minster Close play area in Swanlow were placed on public display.
The plans were drawn up by Cheshire West and Chester Council following public consultations, which included input from children.
Cllr David Armstrong said: "This will be a fantastic facility for local children and their families.
“Over the last four years Cllr Stephen Burns and I have used our members budgets and campaigned for new and improved facilities in our ward and have fully supported local people.”
The plans include three new pieces of play equipment and junior mini goals, two new benches, a replacement entrance gate, safety surface repairs and tree planting.
Cllr Armstrong also announced that an extra £5000 of funding has been secured, which will be used for new landscaping around the park.
The £61,000 scheme has been funded by Waste Recycling Environmental Ltd (WREN) and CWAC, with a contribution from Muir Housing.
The renovations are expected to be completed by mid-June.
