WINSFORD Fire Cadets are set to battle it out in a sponsored obstacle race to help raise £60,000 to fund a trip to Nepal to help build a school.

Hannah Wenborn and Louis Greenwood, both 16 and cadets at Winsford Fire Station, have signed up to take part in the extreme Winter Warrior obstacle course later this month.

The pair will negotiate cargo netting, human cannon balls and tightropes, as well as wade through mud to complete the 10k event, which takes place at Donnington Park Race Track.

The money raised will help towards the £60,000 total to help fund the journey to Nepal in November 2015.

Fire Cadet Manager Vicky Wrest, who will be accompanying the cadets on the trip, said: "This is a great idea to raise money for our trip.

“They are certainly dedicated to the cause and it will stand them in good stead for the Nepal trek.

“Working with Classrooms in the Clouds, we will be accompanied by a Sherpa and plan to trek on foot through the Himalayas, to get to the village of Thulodhunga in Nepal.

“There we will spend a week helping to build a school for local village children.”
