ST Luke’s Hospice were given a cheque for £400 from the Winsford Beer Festival proceeds.

Each and every year the festival has raised funds for St Luke's Hospice as well as other local causes.

The third Winsford Beer Festival, which was organised by the Eddisbury Constituency Labour Party, treated punters a wealth of locally sourced beers and ciders last November.

Mark Porter, corporate and community fundraiser for St Luke’s Hospice said: “We would like to thank everyone who took part in the Winsford Beer Festival.

“As the charity relies heavily on its donation and fundraising effort we are so grateful for this support which enables us to continue our work and help people at such an important and difficult time.

“The hospice costs £7,500 a day to stay open and helps 3,000 people every year. The money raised will help support patient care and maintenance costs throughout the mid and South Cheshire area.”

In total, £800 was raised from the festival, which was divided between St Luke's Cheshire Hospice, North West Air Ambulance and local food banks.

Winsford Town councillor, Cllr Stephen Burns, said: “It always amazes me that in the last three years of very difficult economic times, the people of Winsford have always managed to be so generous.

“I am very proud to live here and very proud we have St Luke's Hospice in our town.”
