A LUCKY Winsford resident has won a Christmas hamper after buying the winning ticket for a charity raffle.
Clr Mike Kennedy of the Dene Ward, led a team from the Winsford Youth Forum and Barclay's Bank to raise £2182.62 for the St Luke’s Cheshire Hospice and New Images Youth Club.
The young fundraisers held two bag packs and a hamper raffle at Asda in Winsford.
The winner of the hamper, Trish Woodhall, from Winsford, said: “It was a lovely surprise, especially because it’s all for charity. St Luke’s are wonderful, as they do so much for our local community.
“I buy the raffle ticket every year but I never win, so I was quite shocked when I found out that I had.
“The hamper is fantastic, and it will certainly be shared out among my grandchildren.”
The Christmas hamper, which was donated by Tesco, proved a huge draw.
Approximately 300 people from Barclay's, Cheshire Police, Asda in Winsford and the public bought tickets to support the two charities.
Clr Kennedy, a trustee of the Winsford Youth Forum and New Images Youth Club and an ambassador for St. Luke's, said: “It is really wonderful to present someone with such a fine prize at Christmas.”
