GREEN-FINGERED children from a Winsford primary school have planted a batch of daffodil bulbs in aid of Marie Curie Cancer Care.

St Chad's C of E Primary School hosted a community event planting daffodil bulbs on the school field, which had been donated by the cancer charity.

Year 2 teacher, Miss Jane Hough and the school’s Global Warrior group organised the event, which was for all Reception class, year 1 and year 2 children.

Parents and grandparents were invited to bring in a spade and join in.

Year 2 teacher, Miss Jane Hough, said: “It was great to see so many enthusiastic parents and grandparents turn up with their spades considering how cold it was.

“The children were really excited about their parents and grandparents coming in to help.

“The children have been learning about habitats and the environment and so this event really linked learning inside and outside the classroom and all the parents and grandparents had made it a memorable afternoon for everyone.

Miss Jane Hough said the children said how much they had enjoyed being outdoors with their parents and grandparents, and couldn't wait to see all the daffodils in the spring.
