WORTHY Winsford initiatives will vie for funding during the town council’s third annual Your Money Your Choice event.

Local groups will be trying to persuade twenty randomly selected Winsford residents that they should receive cash towards their pet projects.

They will listen to presentations from the 10 groups at Winsford Lifestyle Centre on Wednesday, October 15, before deciding which projects are most likely to help improve the quality of life of the people of Winsford.

The random panel will cast their votes and the projects with the most votes will be awarded a share of a £5,000 pot set aside by the town council.

Town clerk, Alan Warburton, said: “This is the third ‘Your Money Your Choice’ event and promises to be every bit as intriguing as the previous two.

“Local people, and not councillors, will be deciding who should receive grants for their projects. “We’re not releasing details of the 10 bids until the night, because we don’t want anyone to form an opinion beforehand.

“Importantly, we’ll be asking the voting audience to concentrate on the benefit of the projects to Winsford people, and not how good someone is at making a presentation.”

The first presentation begins at 6.30pm, with individual bids up to a maximum of £1,000.

Up to three representatives from each group will be given a maximum of five minutes to make their presentation, which can be in any way they choose.

After the last presentation, the audience will score each project The successful groups will be awarded their cheques on the night by Town Mayor Councillor Gina Lewis.

Winsford residents are encouraged to attend the event.
