A YOUNG Winsfordian who saw his life turned around by the Prince’s Trust is encouraging others to do the same by applying for a forthcoming course.

Jamie Jones puts his recent success down to the help and support he got from the Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service (CFRS)staff who run the programme.

The 23-year-old had just recovered from an operation when he met team leader, Jason McTigue, and his assistant Jennie Pye at the Job Centre, and enrolled on the course.

Jamie said: “The Prince’s Trust Programme got my life back on track and came at the right time for me. I’d encourage anyone in the same position to give it a try, you have nothing to lose. I am looking forward to the next chapter of my life.”

Jamie started work as a leisure assistant for Brio Leisure Centre this week and is currently completing a life guard qualification – something he would not have considered possible three months ago.

The Prince’s Trust scheme, which has been run by CFRS for more than two decades, has seen thousands of young local people through its doors.

Leaders visit the Job Centre, Probation Service and job fairs to gather a team together, as well as visiting Winsford town centre to look for likely candidates.

They will interview up to 50 young people to create a team for the 12-week course at the Winsford Youth Forum in Wharton.

Young people may be academically sound and come from a well built background, or homeless, have shyness issues, lack of self-belief, low self esteem, depression or anxiety.

The next course starts on Monday, September 29. If you or someone you know may be interested, contac Jenni Pye on 07875 565095 or the CFRS on 01606 868700.

The service is also looking for partners to provide work placements.
