CHESHIRE Fire and Rescue Service is giving older people the opportunity to see behind the scenes at the Service headquarters in Winsford as part of Ageing Safely Week.

The main event will be Older People’s Day on Wednesday, October 1, where people aged 60 or over are invited to come and see what the service has to offer, and pick up some vital safety messages.

The event is being held at the service headquarters in Sadler Road between 10am-3pm and will include a chip pan fire and live rescue demonstration, vintage and modern fire engines on display, a tour of the HQ including the hi-tech training facilities and a complimentary lunch.

Head of prevention and protection, Keith Brooks, said: “This is a great opportunity for us to engage with older people and make sure they take away some important fire safety advice and information.

“They can come along to our headquarters and have a great day finding out about what we do, having a tour of the building, and watching some dramatic live rescue demonstrations to name but a few things.”

If you or an older family member would like to attend please register your interest by emailing events@cheshirefire.gov.uk or call 01606 868290.
