INTREPID Winsford teenagers will scale Wales’ highest mountain as part of a gruelling 200 mile bike ride next month.
18-year-old duo, Daniel Knight and Martin Jones, will complete the epic endurance test in aid of Cancer Research and the British Heart Foundation.
Setting off on Monday, September 1 they’ll ride from Winsford to Mount Snowdon; scale the peak’s 3,500ft and then get back in the saddle to ride home.
Daniel, who works at the Fourways Cafe and Grill in Oakmere, explained: “We’ve both known quite a lot of people to be affected by cancer; so we wanted to try and generate some money to help fight this horrible disease, as well as helping the British Heart Foundation.
“For two non-athletically fit 18-year-olds, it’s going to be quite a hard challenge.
“We have both been cycling for years, but only for leisure. Neither of us has done it competitively; nor cycled 200 miles before.
“But the physical test will be more than worth it if we can raise a lot of money for both charities.”
Daniel, of Wharton Road, and Over resident Martin, who works for Asda in Winsford, have generated £300 so far with the help of families, friends and local businesses.
The duo, who are off to university in September, have set themselves a £1,000 target and are
welcoming any other riders and hikers who want to join them for the challenge.
